In Situ Stabilization / Solidification (ISS)

Loureiro performs treatability testing using ISS amendments to address a wide range of contaminants, including PFAS. When mixed with soil, these amendments act as binding agents that immobilize contaminants and reduce their potential to leach into groundwater. ISS treatment also results in increased strength properties, providing additional benefits for sites slated for redevelopment or infrastructure support.

Binding Agents can include one or more of the following:

  • Portland cement
  • Blast furnace slag
  • Fly Ash
  • Calcium oxides / hydroxides
  • Lime Cement Kiln

Binding agents can also be combined with contaminant destruction amendments:

  • Carbon
  • In Situ Chemical Oxidation - the high pH of cement activates sodium persulfate into the required range for alkaline activated persulfate
